Solo sesh

JF, Budgie and the annuals that make up the motley crew trip headed north to surf by ourselves and tick off some favorites.

Conditions/Forecast

Tricky winds but a beautiful south swell opened up a lot of options for us.

STANDOUT SESSIONS

A lot of standout sessions this trip.

The main goal was to be surfing alone. Some days we may have sacrificed A grades for B grades but surfing alone with just your mates is what you live for when on a surf trip. A few sneaky moves had us on the spot by ourselves nearly every day ticking off plenty of favorites, lots of variety and a lot of dreamy moments onboard the Mighty Mango in and out of the water.

Wave of the trip

Grom has done it again!

Feeling right back at home at his all-time favorite wave. In true grom fashion he sat and observed the session before swinging on an absolute bomb. Well done Grom.

The group / Personalities

This is a trip we always look forward to. The lads like to put the hours in the water and with the ZZZZ’s but in true holiday spirit the bar was open at 1600 every day.

The spirits start to flow and the recap/rundown of the day has everyone smiling while enjoying Sumatra’s number one beer garden. Some very memorable sessions in and out of the water. Was good to see some of the lads truly let their hair down on a couple of nights.

Food

The lighter meals this trip got all the hypes with Chef Situs Spanish mackerel with Avocado salsa for the win.

Fish on

Not much on the fish front this trip as we simply didn’t put the hours in and was surfing most evenings, but the crew managed to catch a monster off the back of the boat while at anchor. Some were in the surf and missed all the action, but it took 3 crew members and a dingy assist to get it onboard.

“Bar’s open!”

Every day Nick would be out the back checking his watch waiting for that clock to hit 1600hrs. There may have been some slightly cheated early starts here and there but it was always good vibes when the crew joined and enjoyed a few afternoon sherbets.

Bar's open

Special Thanks

Resort Latitude Zero for putting on the world’s strongest cocktails and letting us commandeer the pool gazebo, the team that keep returning year after year, and Zac who jumped on last minute after a 20-year hiatus onboard Mango.

Already looking forward to next year’s trip. Uncle Lip.
