WITH THE TRADE WINDS STILL PUMPING, THE FORECAST PROMISED PLENTY OF LEFTS…..BUT JOEL AND THE BOYS DIDN’T COME ALL THIS WAY TO BE PICKY.
RIGHTS, LEFTS, TUBES, GOOD TIMES - WHATEVER WAS ON OFFER, THEY WERE TAKING IT.

Heading north, the promise of Sumatra’s beauty was impossible to ignore. The lads had already made a few Indonesian trips, but chartering into some of the island chain’s most remote zones brought an entirely new sense of adventure.
On the first day, we went the extra mile and delivered exactly what we had hoped for. The boys traded tubes, shared beers and took it all in, occasionally having to pinch themselves to believe the surroundings were real.
“This first day is already better than any surf trip I’ve ever done.”

And the best part? There were still ten days ahead.
ON THE RADAR
A certain wave had been on our radar for a while. Sometimes the conditions simply aren’t there when we are in the area, but we keep it firmly in the back pocket and keep checking it when we pass.
On this occasion, the lads had already enjoyed a full morning of surfing, so with nothing to lose, we loaded up Foxy Lady and set off on a strike mission.
We slipped along the coastline through the haze and eventually found ourselves in front of the wave we had imagined. It delivered exactly what we had hoped for this time around, and a session none of us will forget any time soon.
WHEN THE WAVE BREAKS HERE, DON’T BE THERE…
When the Foxy is packed with your best mates, the channel is alive with shouting, and the wave of the day comes through, there really is only one option - GO!
It doesn’t matter if you’re slightly too deep, a little too far out of position, or wondering whether you should really be paddling for it. The jeers from Foxy leave no room for hesitation.
Al certainly didn’t disappoint. Perhaps a paddle or two too short, perhaps two meters too deep, but either way, once the yelling started, there was no option but to swing.
Everyone aboard Foxy Lady got a good laugh out of it, and Al came up laughing too, knowing exactly how much entertainment he had provided…. until he saw his favourite sled in two pieces…
TRADITION IS TRADITION
The feeling of a freshly buzzed haircut brings the previous night back into sharp focus. One look in the mirror is enough to remember just how much everyone was laughing during, and after, the haircuts.
EVERYTHING ELSE IN BETWEEN
There were certainly sessions that stood above the rest, but just as memorable were the countless waves in between: empty lineups, playful conditions and plenty of time in the water for everyone.
By the final day, the boys had well and truly had their fix. Surfed out, sun-soaked and satisfied - exactly how we like to send our guests home.
Broken.
In the best possible way, of course.
