A CHANGE OF SCENERY THAT DELIVERED

The phone messages were clear - "Head north in search of empty slabs”
As it turns out, they picked one hell of a trip window.

After years of laps through Mentawai, Jamie and the boys were looking for a different flavour of Indonesian perfection. A fresh change, and Telo was calling with the swell of the year so far waiting for us on the other side of the straight.

THE SWELL OF THE YEAR?

Forecast - solid swell. variable winds.

The crew had heard whispers of one particular break – a chip-in righthander with a square barrel that spat into a postcard-perfect tropical bay, and that was the prime target for the peak of the swell event.

The first morning wasn't exactly quiet with more than a few heads bobbing in the lineup. We waited our turn until after the first session. The lineup emptied, and that is exactly how it stayed for the rest of the day.

The following day was even better - bigger, hollower, more ridiculous. Another full day of trading perfect barrels with mates before a sunset session that you dream of. The kind of session that will be talked about twenty years from now.

"These are the roundest waves I've ever seen"

"That was the best wave of my life"

"This is exactly what we came for”

“Hands down this is the best boat trip I’ve ever done, and I’ve done a few”

THE INDO FIX

Indonesian classics!

WHEN MUTUAL MATES BECOME BROTHERS

The best trips are never just about the surf, they are about the crew you enjoy it with.

Jamie and Mark assembled a cracker of a lineup – a collection of mates, mutual friends and first-timers who somehow clicked from day one.

Questionable surf hype playlists, late night laughter, air conditioning wars, The Bash Bros, dubious haircut decisions, and somewhere during the chaos - the birth of something known only as the White Fury Mankini! Some stories are better left at sea.

JAMIE ON THE TOOLS

Jamie came loaded with his water housing and it was well worth the extra luggage. Indo dreaming & happy as a pig in s**t.

SPECIAL THANKS

A huge thanks to the crew who make each trip so special, Latitude Zero Telo Islands for welcoming the riff-raff ashore for Origin Game 1, and to Huey, who delivered one of the best runs of swell we've seen this year.

Same time in two years, lads.

Yours truly, Uncle Lip
