The charts had been teasing for days with a proper south pulse on the long range, so we got to our target break down south early in anticipation. A couple of other boats had the same idea, but the swell hadn't really shown its hand on “the day”.
Patience isn't glamorous. It's sitting in the lineup wondering if you've just burned a swell day, but by sunrise the following morning, the answer arrived - the swell had filled in, and everyone else had pulled the pin and moved on. What followed was an all-day, solo session in well-overhead Mentawai perfection. Just the Mango crew trading waves all day. The kind of day you dream of when you are booking your trip.

UNICORNS DO EXIST
Rags Right had been circled from day one also. With a boat full of regular-footers and a handful of bodyboard frothers, it was an obvious target with this crew of tube dogs.
An unpredicted wind change and a subtle shift in swell direction turned fantasy into reality. After scoring the south by ourselves, we rolled into Rags to find the lineup just as empty.
Tube after tube with nothing but your mates hooting from the channel. Another day that will be remembered for a long time.

SLABS, WEDGES, AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN
Between the marquee sessions were plenty of detours, and variety makes for an epic trip overall, and it certainly was just that – an epic trip allround.
A few under-the-radar slabs, empty little wedges, playful runners. The “something for everyone” sessions.
Every day offered something different, and every day delivered.
