Norm getting it done

Norm and the crew bail on the soggy east coast weather back in Oz for some tropical fun on the equator.

FORECAST VS REALITY

The Indian Ocean finally took a bit of a breather with only a few one-day swell bumps predicted for the trip and some strong north winds certainly did not scream “surf trip of a lifetime”…

But that’s the thing about boat trips — dawn missions, calculated calls, and a crew of frothers ready to paddle at first light meant the lads still scored - empty lineups, late-arvo glass-offs, and more than enough waves for everyone to be feeling wrecked by trip’s end.

VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE

Although we got stuck with a week of northerlies and a small surf, the hard work paid off with heaps of water time. From fun runners to proper four-turn screamers. Lefts, rights, a couple of sneaky tubes — no shortage of variety and a total of 13 new breaks surfed for the boys.

THE ONE NIGHT STAND

It was a nice change of pace from the relentless late-night shenanigans of the past few trips but the whole group from north of the boarder truly let the hair down when granted access to Latitude Zero’s cocktail bar and games room. Young Roster’s spectacular performance that night is already the stuff of folklore, and still good for a belly laugh days later….

FOXY DELIVERS

With a few keen fishermen onboard most afternoons were spent out on Foxy Lady for a troll, and she delivered in spades. Everyone got their fair share and variety of fish. Some of the highlights moments of the trip.

BBQ FISH FOR DAYS

Healthy fresh BBQ fish paired with nasi goreng was all the talk and repeatedly requested for lunch.

It’s hard to beat fresh fish, especially when you’re catching it yourself and there’s something about a classic nasi goreng on the front deck of The Mighty Mangalui. Add a couple of frosty Bintangs and you’re looking at the definition of Indo boat trip living right there.
